FCX Fan Coil FAQ’s

1. What styles are available in the FCX line of fan coils?
Two styles are available: High Static Ducted version and a Freestanding Ductless version.

2. What sizes are available in every style fan coil?
The most commonly used sizes are FCX 22,32,42,50,102 in both styles although for project based (special order) other sizes are available.

3. How many fan speeds do the fan coils have?
The FCX US & FCX USP fan coils are capable of 3 speed operations: Low, Medium, and High speed. The FCX USPO has 7 speeds and high static.

4. What approval are they listed for?
The FCX fan coils are ETL approved for both Canada and the United States.

5. Are the fan coils suitable for horizontal or vertical installation?
They are suitable for both horizontal and vertical installation; as a standard they come with two built in drip trays.

6. For the ducted models, how much static pressure can they handle?
Refer to pages 47, 48 & 49 of Technical Booklet for the Fan Coil FCX US, FCX USP, FCX USPO for available static pressures.

7. What size water connections are on the fan coils? Are they male or female?
All fan coils have female threaded connections. Please refer to below listed web link for connection sizes on US models -

and for USP/O models -
http://aermec.us/docs/FCX/fcxusp.pdf

8. How much capacity is affected due to glycol?
Refer to pages 52 & 53 of Technical Booklet for the Fan Coil FCX US, FCX USP, FCX USPO for glycol correction factors.

9. What are the heating capacity graphs for various entering water temperature?
Refer to pages 36, 37 & 38 of Technical Booklet for the Fan Coil FCX US, FCX USP, FCX USPO for heating capacity data.

10. What are the cooling capacity graphs for various entering water temperatures?
Refer to pages 22 to 35 of Technical Booklet for the Fan Coil FCX US, FCX USP, FCX USPO for cooling capacity data.

15. What type of fans do the fan coils utilize?
The fan coils utilize a double suction centrifugal type fan motor, which is internally protected against current overload.

16. What is the warranty period?
The warranty period is 1 year all parts and components. Labor is the responsibility of the installing contractor.

17. Is there an internal filter? What is it made of and how often does it need to be replaced?
Yes there is an internal filter, which is removable and is to be cleaned by a vacuum as often as it becomes dirty, as it should not be replaced.

18. Can an external filtering device be mounted on the ducted versions?
Yes an external filtering device of your choice can be used. Although it is important to make sure you have enough flow for your conditioned area and filter.

19. Is there a possibility of fresh air incorporated into the fan coils?
Yes it is possible to incorporate fresh air directly into each fan coil although heating and cooling capacity graphs have to be considered in order to ensure non conditioned air from the outdoors will not affect the area heat gain/loss requirement.

20. What is the fan coils sound ratings? To which standard are they tested?
Refer to pages 54 to 57 of Technical Booklet for the Fan Coil FCX US, FCX USP, FCX USPO for fan coils sound ratings along with testing information.

21. What is the electrical power requirement for the fan coils?
The electrical power requirement for all FCX fan coils is 115/1/60. Please also note that with the RX electric resistance add-on 230/1/60 will be required.

22. What methods are recommended for drainage of condensate?
It is crucial to ensure that all condensate is removed from the fan coil by means of gravity or by use of a condensate pump.

23. What are the minimum water flow rates and working pressures required for correct operation?
